NMK ran its first event in 1998 showcasing such exciting new companies as Digit?. Six years on, and thousands of people have experienced NMK's conferences, evening events, seminars, networking activities, courses, research publications, recruitment fairs, trade missions and much more. NMK is an exemplar of how an academic institution (in this case the University of Westminster), can make a positive impact on professional and business development.

Credit must go to Stephen Whaley and Paul Owens at the University of Westminster, for having the vision and determination to develop new ways of learning and sharing knowledge within the traditional structures of a Higher Education Institute.

NMK's success is largely due to the incredible energy and work done in the early years by Michelle Milton. Michelle (currently developing Melbourne's digital economy) galvanised many of the nascent industry's disparate groupings, companies and individuals, bringing them together for a series of landmark events and activities.
